Situation & Tasks:
With the aftermath of COVID-19, the cruise industry faced significant trust and safety challenges. Norwegian Cruise Line, in collaboration with Imageware, recognized an opportunity to harness touchless biometric solutions to enhance guest safety and convenience, ensuring a smooth and worry-free cruise experience, and eliminating pandemic-era customer concerns.

Actions:

  • Market Exploration: Initiated a deep dive into the post-COVID cruise market, analyzing evolving traveler preferences, safety concerns, and expectations for a touchless onboard experience.

  • User Research: Engaged in qualitative research, including surveys and focus groups with past and potential cruise-goers, to gauge their willingness to cruise again and their key concerns in a post-pandemic world.

  • Gap Identification: Pinpointed areas within Norwegian Cruise Line's guest management and onboard systems where touchless biometric solutions from Imageware could address user concerns and enhance overall cruise experiences.

  • Collaborative Brainstorming: Organized joint sessions between Imageware and Norwegian Cruise Line teams to ideate and develop potential touchless biometric solutions.

  • Proposal Creation: Developed three distinct project proposals tailored to address the identified market drivers, trends, and insights from user research. Each proposal highlighted a different facet of how biometric technology could be integrated into the cruise experience to maximize guest comfort and safety.

  • Stakeholder Engagement: Delivered and presented the proposals to key stakeholders within Norwegian Cruise Line, showcasing the transformative potential of integrating touchless biometrics in a post-COVID cruise setting.

Results:
The collaborative research and proposal efforts culminated in a clear roadmap for Imageware and Norwegian Cruise Line's partnership.
